In the White Dry Portions from Royal Snus, a plant species called Damiana is used instead of tobacco. Damiana is a shrub that belongs to the plant genus of passionflowers (Turnera diffusa). Its natural range extends from southern North America to Argentina. Damiana preferably thrives in dry, rocky locations—such as cliffs, limestone areas, or mixed forests at altitudes between 500 meters and 1950 meters. Damiana has also long been used in Mexico as a tobacco substitute.
