The manufacturer British American Tobacco (BAT) decided a long time ago to replace the two all white products EPOK and LYFT with the brand VELO. In German-speaking Switzerland you might rub your eyes at the new name, but in terms of the branding history of the product, it only seems to be the next round of curiosities.
Originally created by the Swedish company Winnington, after the takeover of BAT, EPOK and its "small proportion of tobacco" were developed into a "completely tobacco-free" variant, which was christened LYFT. The fact that the outside and inside of the product appear exactly the same has confused many consumers and may have a legal background: In some countries (such as Norway) snus without tobacco is not allowed, in other countries (such as the EU with the exception of Sweden) it is exactly the opposite, since snus is only allowed without tobacco. Mixed with trademark conflicts around the two brands, it is understandable that these problems should probably be eliminated with the rebranding to "VELO".
The fact that the VELO product should continue to be available with and without a "small proportion of tobacco", depending on the country or legislation, is of little help to consumer education. Different packaging or flavorings for different countries will not be able to change that.
Unsurprisingly, the schedule for the changeover is not entirely clear either. What is certain is that Swiss retail will switch from EPOK to VELO in 2021. The schedule for the changeover in the online area is still unclear - but we are of the opinion that it doesn't really matter which letters are now on the can: The main thing is that you get the product at the lowest prices with a lightning-fast delivery service to your home. As always with snushus.
